Well it's been about two weeks since I've shared any thoughts on here. I was on my honeymoon for that span of time so I completely unplugged from anything digital, and it was exactly what I needed: some rest.
Look, I get it. You're probably reading this and secretly thinking: rest? I don't need rest. But you do need some rest and probably won't realize it until you take some time to unplug, recharge, and reflect on where you're at and need to be.
Unless you're one of those people who has checked out of life altogether (if that's you, get moving), then you're probably one of those people—like me—who has a calendar that's bursting at its edges and you're running at top speed to work on whatever it is that you work on (hopefully it's something you're passionate about).
Having a focus that drives you is a proactive thing in general, but it can be problematic in specific if you lean into that busyness so much that you forget, or ignore, how tired you are. Because tiredness can certainly kill—or at least limit—creativity.
So what are you waiting for? Take some time to rest. Go read a book. Drink a coffee (slowly). Think. Breathe. Reflect. Recuperate. It's important.
Yes, probably more important than you think.
