Sometimes we're afraid to say what we really want to say when we're creating and sharing media with people. Iggy Pop taught to let go of those fears and say what you really want to say to people.
The first time I heard Raw Power, it felt like a beautiful bomb of authenticity was going off in my headphones. Ever since that moment, I listen to Iggy & The Stooges when I need a reminder to say what I want to say in media—to be genuine in what I create and communicate, even if the delivery feels awkward and I'm not sure how people will receive it.
So often, we ask what's genuine? when creating media, and in the process, we cease to be genuine. What we can learn from Iggy and his ilk is that genuine media production and communication happens when we find the sounds that are inside our souls and aren't afraid to say it or shout it out loud.
So what are we waiting for? Let's inject a little Raw Power into our media and start saying what we really want to say.
