It was recently brought to my attention by a friend that Harrison Ford hurt himself on the set of the new Star Wars films by getting his foot slammed in the door of the Millennium Falcon.
Star Wars geek or no, you have to admit that if you're going to get hurt, getting your foot slammed in the door of a spaceship that can do the Kessel Run in only twelve parsecs is a great way to get hurt.
Moreover, such was my realization when I read this news item: mistakes, obstacles, failures, and mess ups are unavoidable in life, but you aren't completely powerless when it comes to mistakes. You can, to a certain extent, choose where you're going to be when your mistakes happen.
Harrison Ford was in the Millennium Falcon when he was hurt. Where will you be when you get hurt? If you're going to hurt yourself, make a mistake, or fail at something, it might as well be in a place where and when you're doing something awesome that makes you come alive and inspires others people.
So what are you waiting for? Find the right place to make a mistake.
